Maedeh Mosaverzadeh (Mayi Mosaver) is a visual artist, illustrator, and animator based in Calgary/Mohkinstsis. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in Drawing from the University of Calgary, where she deepened her practice and explored the intersections of art, storytelling, and environmental awareness.
Her work is rooted in environmental advocacy and a deep appreciation for the natural world. Through illustration and hand-drawn animation, Maedeh creates thoughtful narratives that invite audiences to reflect on their relationship with nature and consider pathways toward positive change. Her projects often explore complex social and ecological themes, such as climate change, plastic pollution, and cultural identity, translating them into visually engaging and accessible stories.
Alongside her artistic practice, Maedeh has extensive experience teaching at multiple levels, from foundational courses to advanced creative development. As an instructor, she fosters curiosity, experimentation, and personal expression, helping students discover their unique voices while expanding their technical skills and artistic vision. She is committed to creating a learning environment that inspires confidence, nurtures creativity, and encourages meaningful engagement with art.
Maedeh has engaged and collaborated with numerous organizations across Calgary, including Quickdraw Animation Society as an instructor and producing member, the Werklund Center through the 2026 TD Incubator Artist Summit, BUMP Festival as a muralist, and Calgary Allied Arts Foundation as an artist-in-residence. She is currently an instructor at Alberta University of the Arts.
Through her diverse practice, Maedeh bridges visual arts, illustration and animation, using storytelling as a tool for reflection, dialogue, and positive impact. Her work continues to inspire audiences, support emerging artists, and highlight the vital connections between people, culture, and the natural world.
